Midsommer in Sweden

Once again it was midsommer and for once there was good weather even though it was forecast for rain. We had the traditional sill lunch (herring in sauce) which includes fresh potatoes, meatballs, cheese (we had some Scottish cheddar :-) and of course a few wee glasses of schnapps. Then it was off to the local midsommers pole for the frog dancing (dont ask).

Sweden - Holland

Getting pretty tense here before the game with Holland tonight. Sweden need to play better than they did against Denmark if they are going to have a chance though.

Heres hoping that Holland have a bad day. Getting a little bit of revenge for Hollands drubbing of Scotland in the play off would do quite nicely.

Apache

Not much posting happening mainly because I have been trying to set up an apache server on my home pc so I can play around with that and php and mysql (which is based in my home town of Uppsala) a bit. got quite a good package from Foxserv. Couldnt get the apache service to start up at all for ages. Kept on giving the very useful error 1 message.

Well it turns out that you shouldnt edit the httpd.conf file unless you know what you are doing :-}
And once I had changed back the Listen setting to be just port 80 and not localhost:80 everything started up OK :-)

Now just to lock everything down.

Then I am going to get a free DNS redirect from No-IP and Bobs your uncle.

Denmark 2 -2 Sweden

Okay, okay, so it did go 2-2 and italy was put out. Hee, Hee. Conspiracy though, I dont think so. Not if you saw the last minute goal anyway. and what was with the italy-Bulgarien game getting 5 minutes of extra time?

Sweden - Denmark

The tension is building up here for the important game between Sweden and Denmark to see who gets through to the quarter finals. Now they are not say the same adversaries that Scotland and England are but I would still find it hard to believe they would agree to draw like those crazy Italians think they might.

Firefox

i am writing this post using Firefox from Mozilla, which I have just installed today. i must say that so far i am very impressed. I was a pretty dedicated Opera user and didn't think that I would want to change, but Firefox just looks so clean, and its got tabs, and the icons look very good. I think i may be converted :-)

(and it displays the editing icons on the typepad post creation page which Opera didn't, which meant i had to use IE :-( )

Euro 2004 website

I must say that I like the Euro 2004 website. Lots of good, well presented info, even if it is swamped by adverts some of the time.

I'm glad I have ADSL though as I dont think any of the pages are less the a couple hundred kB

Congratulations Elsa

Elsa is one today.

Doesn't seem like a year since we were in the hospital. Elsa has changed so much from the "liten prutt"

to the bouncing baby she is today.

Oh and she took her first unaided steps yesterday :-)

Sweden - Bulgaria

Good luck to Sweden against Bulgaria tonight. The Bulgarians have a bit of a reputation as being diving gits, but hopefully the ref will be on top of it.
