Last week we went on a camping holiday up to the north of Sweden. Well i say north, but we really only got up to the middle of sweden really. Sweden is so long we were about as far up as Iceland, well maybe not but the Faroe Islands anyway.
First we went up the Höga Kusten (High Coast) which is about 5 hours drive north of Uppsala. A UNESCO world heritage site it is really pretty, especially when its sunny :-). What is also pretty cool is that about 10000 years ago it had about a couple bagillion tons of ice on it during the last ice age so was pushed down into the Earth. Ever since the ice went away its been springing back up and they say its now a couple of hundred metres higher now than it was then. Cool!
We stayed at a comping site in Barsta which was really nice and right next to the Baltic.
We did some nice walks and things including one to this amazing ravine.
Then we headed inland nearly all the way to the border of Norway to a place called Vålådalen
Here we did some more walking and took in some great scenery.
while staying at the great tourist station. Ican highly recommend their evening buffet. I ate so much i thought I was going to explode, and it was all so good!
Anyway, tomorrow we are off to Scotland for a week, so let the holidays continue...
